Our democracy is under attack by organized networks spreading disinformation, while too many Latino-focused media voices are being shuttered, even after major outlets have tried and failed to sustain them. In this landscape, collaboration between creators and journalists is critical: creators bring authenticity and trust with their audiences, while journalists bring rigor and verification. Together, they can amplify credible voices, counter misinformation, and deliver stories that truly resonate.
The newest cohort of NMV & NRV’s Latine Voices for Democracy (LV4D) Accelerator meets this moment by supporting transformative local media in states where democracy is most at risk —Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Texas. This group of newsrooms and content creators are trusted messengers, connecting with their communities and ushering in a new era of community-rooted media and civic engagement.
Protecting democracy requires investing in a robust media ecosystem, a strategy which must extend past traditional newsrooms to include content creators in order to meet people where they're at.

"Journalists are adopting creator tactics to stay visible and stay relevant. Creators are embracing the rigor and responsibility that comes with building public trust at scale. And in that overlap, there’s real potential for both coexistence and collaboration."
